    شهد معرض الخدمات الحكومية الالكترونية 2009 تدشين هيئة تقنية المعلومات شخصية «عارف» وذلك تحت رعاية الدكتور سالم بن سلطان الرزيقي الرئيس التنفيذي لهيئة تقنية المعلومات، وتعتبر شخصية «عارف» كرتونية عمانية تسعى الى نشر الوعي بين الأفراد وتبسيط مفهوم تقنية المعلومات وكيفية استخدام تطبيقاتها بشكل ميسر وسهل. وقال الرئيس التنفيذي: تم تدشين شخصية «عارف» وتعتبر شخصية كرتونية وارتأينا من خلال هذه الشخصية تعريف المجتمع بتقنية المعلومات والخدمات التي تقوم بها وسيكون لشخصية عارف دور كبير في تقديم مثل هذه الخدمات في الجوانب التوعوية وستجدونه يكلم الأطفال بالإضافة إلى شرائح المجتمع المختلفة، ومن خلاله سيبسط الاجراءات الالكترونية، ومن خلال هذا المعرض رأينا عددا من الخدمات الحكومية التي نرغب في توصيلها الى المجتمع من خلال شخصية عارف. وحول الهدف من شخصية عارف قال: التعريف بمشاريع ومبادرات عمان الرقمية والتوضيح للأفراد بمدى سهولة المعرفة الرقمية، وتوصيل المعلومة للأفراد بطريقة مبسطة وسهلة، وتوظيف الأساليب الودية والطرق المختلفة لنشر الوعي بأهمية المعرفة الرقمية، وكذلك إقناع الأفراد بدور استخدام الخدما

    The Development and Evaluation of a Network for Producing and Sharing Video Presentations

    This paper describes the technology and methodology used in the development and usability evaluation of a network, named PresentationTube, to help faculty members at Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman, produce and share quality video presentations for their students. The network offers a desktop application for recording video presentations and an online platform to share presentations online. The recorder allows faculty members to narrate and annotate PowerPoint slides and synchronize a variety of visual aids, including webcam footage, whiteboard, drawing board, and web browser. The platform uses YouTube API to upload and integrate videos with scrollable slide thumbnails.
