Recording PowerPoint Presentations with Audio

Recording PowerPoint presentations with the presenter's audio and video footage is very important for use in education and business. PresentationTube project allows teachers to create and use video presentations in a wide variety of contexts that can enhance learner's interests in the Arab region. It helps teachers clearly identify the main points of a topic using their own language in audio and video formats. Teachers can incorporate multiple types of media formats (e.g., diagram, photo, drawing, sound & video) that cannot be easily integrated together into one single medium, like ordinary video clips and computers software. PresentationTube network provides video content on demand to students, so they can choose when and where to use the material and can spend as long or as little time on each learning activity.

What’s the Difference Between “Using Technology” and “Technology Integration”?

Recently, I’ve been noticing that a lot of instructors are under the impression that they are successfully integrating technology, when in fact they are simply using technology. Although this might seem to some as just semantics, in my opinion there is a huge difference between the two – a difference that can be seen in the impact the technology usage has on student learning. In an effort to better delineate between “using technology” and “technology integration,” I created the chart below to that highlights what I believe are the key differences. Let me know what you think!

Learning Light Supports PresentationTube by Making Open Content Available via the e-Learning Centre

The E-learning Centre is an information resource about e-learning and learning technologies for business education, not-for-profit or the public sector. In addition to the information and resources freely available on the site are a number of e-learning materials. These are gathered under the heading of ‘courses’ and produced by acknowledged leaders in technology-delivered corporate learning.

PresentationTube, an enterprise which is sponsored by the Internet Society, ByteScout, Microsoft and Learning Light, offers a desktop presentation recorder and video sharing platform to help teachers, students and business professionals to produce and share professional and high quality video presentations.

The recorder allows presenters to narrate and annotate PowerPoint slides and synchronise visual aids, including webcam footage, whiteboard, drawing board and web browser. The platform integrates the recorded video and scrollable slide thumbnails, allowing the audience to move to the respective video content and control both the time and progress of video presentation.

Learning Light director, David Patterson, commented: “We’re delighted to be able to make this open content freely available via the E-learning Centre website.

“Indeed, PresentationTube offers two ways of creating presentations - some of which is free but, for higher quality presentations, the premium version is certainly superior. Users are encouraged to develop presentations, on a variety of topics, and then upload these to the PresentationTube website, in the manner of open content sites.

“We expect this to be a popular component of the newly re-launched E-learning Centre as a source of ready-made presentations to be included in a course, or even a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) perhaps,” he added.
