Improving pre-service teachers' visual literacy through Flickr Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the impact on pre-service teachers' visual literacy skills when they take advantage of Flickr, an online photo hosting and sharing c om munity. Two approaches were used to develop visual literacy skills of pre-service teachers through Flickr. The first was to help them decode visuals through practicing analysis techniques, and interpreting and creating meaning fr om visual stimuli. The second was to help them encode visuals as a tool for c om munication and sharing of knowledge. Visual Literacy Test, participants' Flickr logs, Photograph Evaluation Instrument and constructed interviews were used to assess improvement in participants' visual literacy skills, the degree of engagement in sharing activities and measure perceptions toward participation in Flickr c om munity. رسالة من صديق في أحد الأيام دخل صبي يبلغ من العمر 10 سنوات الى مقهى وجلس على الطاوله ، فوضعت الجرسونة كأساً من الماء أمامه فسئل الصبي : بكم آيسكريم بالكاكاو ؟ أجابته : بخمس دولارات. فأخرج الصبي يده من جيبه وأخذ يعد النقود فسألها مرة أخرى : حسنا ً وبكم الآيسكريم لوحده فقط بدون كاكاو ؟ في هذهِ الأثناء كان هناك الكثير من الزبائن ينتظرون خلو طاوله في المقهى للجلوس عليها فبدأ صبر الجرسونه بالنفاذ ، فأجابته بفظاظه : بـ أربع دولارات. فعد الصبي نقوده وقال: سآخذ الايسكريم العادي فأحضرت الجرسونة له الطلب ، ووضعت فاتورة الحساب على الطاولة وذهبت أنهى الصبي الآيسكريم ودفع حساب الفاتورة وغادر المقهى وعندما عادت الجرسونة إلى الطاولة إغرورقت عيناها بالدموع أثناء مسحها للطاوله حيث وجدت بجانب الطبق الفارغ .. دولار واحد أترون .. لقد حرم الصبي نفسه الآيسكريم بالكاكاو حتى يوفر لنفسه دولاراً يكرم به الجرسونة. ما دعاني لطرح هذا الموقف أو القصه القصيره هو أننا كثيرا مانقع في حرج أو نتسبب في شحن نفسي تجاه أناس آخرين نحمل لهم الكثير من الحب والتقدير ولكن الاستعجال بإصدار حكمنا عليهم يتسب...

طلب من خبير مالي أن يبسط للناس العاديين أسباب الكارثة التي حصلت في أسواق البورصة فقال إن رجلاً ذهب إلى قرية نائية، عارضاً على سكانها شراء كل حمار لديهم، بعشرة دولارات فباع قسم كبير منهم حميرهم بعدها رفع السعر إلى 15 دولاراً فباع آخرون فرفع سعره إلى ثلاثين، حتى نفدت الحمير من لدى أهل القرية عندها قال لهم أدفع50 دولاراً لقاء الحمار الواحد وذهب لتمضية نهاية الأسبوع في المدينة، ثم جاء مساعده عارضاً على أهل القرية أن يبيعهم حميرهم السابقة بأربعين دولاراً للحمار الواحد على أن يبيعوها مجدّداً لمعلمه بخمسين يوم الاثنين فدفعوا كل مدّخراتهم ثمناً لحميرهم ومن لا يملك مال اقترض واستدان علي أمل تحقيق مكسب سريع وبعدها لم يروا الشاري ولا مساعده أبدا... جاء الأسبوع التالي ولم يبقى لمن في القرى سوى ديون وحمير
